I recently have encountered a friend who has been charged with harassment in the State of New York. Essentially the criminal complaint of harassment carries only a penalty of a violation (not even a misdemeanor) with penalties of a few days in jail or a small fine.

So far, in my research I have found that the NYS Court of Appeals has struck down a former portion of the NYS Harassment statute in a case called People v. Dietze.

In Dietze, it was determined that calling a woman a bitch and her daughter who was mentally deficient a hor, and stating that some day or night out on the street I am going to get you did not constitute harassment and that the statute was unconstitutionally vague.

To me, given the 1st Amendment rights of Free Speech, to tell someone the work FUCK in any context, other than the context that the speaker intends to do physical harm to the victim, cannot be made criminal under any strech of the imagination.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Harassment - Giving the finger to someone in public.

It is well settled law that if a public official under color of State Law deprives a person of their civil rights (in this case the First Amendment right under the US Constitution), the person detained/arrest may have the right to sue the public officials under 4 USC section 18 as well as common law false arrest and unlawful imprisonment.

The problems that exist in the United States of America is that people allow law enforcement agencies to walk all over their civil and other rights without vigorously defending themselves.

In my friends case, the maximum penalty is something like fifteen (15) days in the county jail and/or a fine of about $100! In order to vigorously defend such a matter, he would probably end up spending at least twenty times that amount, and of course, the time that he might face in jail he would loose from work adds to a general feeling by most reasonable people is to try to work out a deal with the prosecutor as opposed to vigorously fighting the charge and following up with litigation either in state or federal courts (or both).

Last but not least is that most people are unable to handle themselves in both a criminal or civil court involving pretrial motions, discovery, suppression hearings, and all of the other things that go with either defending or prosecuting such a case. As a result, people give in.

I am continuing to research this point and will come back to this web site when finished. Dont have any yet!

Reaper Man Book Review

The book I have currently been reading is called Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett, the book was first published in 11 by Gollancz and was edited and re-published by Corgi in 1. The book is one of Terry Pratchetts Disc world novels (fantasy world) and its genre is fantasy.

The book is about the life of a wizard whos death goes terribly wrong when the angel of death has to retire from his job and live in the mortal world. Both are confused, as one wanders the land as a zombie, while the other has to adapt to a totally new life, and must fast the fact that he too must die like all others.

The main characters in this book are Windle Poons the wizard, DEATH, and Arch chancellor Ridcully of the University of Wizardry. DEATH is a character from the beginning and most people already know who and what he is just by looking at his name, however he changes a lot in this book from beginning to end, his personality and way of thinking are the main changes. Windle Poons is introduced by the writer as is Ridcully when the author writes a small prelude and writes about the University and who is in there. Windle Poons has a major change as he goes from being alive to a zombie. Ridcully mainly stays the same but develops his personality and way of thinking just like DEATH. Hint Hint!

Buy Book review Terry Pratchett term paper

The setting of the book can be quite confusing and annoying as it jumps from character to character e.g. Windle Poons was really having a fun time being dead. Death…………………However you can really adapt to it after a while. Each plot is revealed by the author giving a short foreword about the following subject and at the beginning it talks about the world itself and introduces newcomers to the Disc world. This is very important for without the preludes readers would be lost and their minds would be wondering intensely.

I like this book because it is very funny and also a fantasy book which I am a big fan of. I like the way the author has written the book, the way he comes about introducing each character which comes along. The way he jumps from character to character can be quite annoying, but it makes you want to read more as you want to find out what happens to the character you were just reading about. What I dislike about this book is the way it jumps from character to character which confused me a lot. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good fantasy book with a bit of comedy and who doesn't mind being jumped around, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like fantasy and being jumped around.

I would give this book a three out of five as it is a very good book which I enjoyed reading but it had its major downfall.

Like water to chocolate is a tragic love story, filled with the most magical recipes. A Mexican family with old traditions and a mother who strands her youngest daughter, Gertrudis, from falling in love and being happy. Gertrudis, was born, and raised in the kitchen and learnt the secrets of spiritual cooking. She is envied by her three sisters, and her mother, and is in love with a man, Juan, but their love is an impossible love because of the fate that is in store for them.

What I found most entertaining in this novel, turned into a movie, was the actual love story. The story of love and freedom Gertrudis and her secret lover battle to find, and how she uses cooking to express her love and sadness. Laura Esquivel, the writer of this novel, used a lot of fantasy and symbolisms to unravel her story which made it the more interesting.

For example, when Gertrudis and her lover were secretly seeing each other and they knew strongly in their hearts that nothing could separate them, she felt alive. While cooking her favorite magical recipe, ' Rose petal Wings', the love and all the emotions she felt were all poured into her food, so that everybody that tasted her meal could feel the same passion. Every one could feel the aphrodisiac taste.

MESSAGE OF MOVIE

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Analysing the love story of "like Water To Chocolate"

I think the message the writer is trying to portray is that what someone feels emotionally can directly affect the work or the art. The quality of our actions is reflected by how we feel. When things are done with the deepest true feelings of love, this love is manifested in our work and thus become satisfying and fulfilling to us, and more appreciated by others.

HOW IT APPLIES TO THE METAPHISICAL

In this movie, I see the cooking of Gertrudis as an expression that promotes life on a life-less average food. By this I mean, that a meal that could've been as average as any other, is then transformed into the greatest piece of art. She would transcend into her work and manifest the unmanifest. As Maharishi would define an artist, as a expressionist of life, which sees a "living face on a dead stone" (creativity in her food), the artist speaks to the object and wants the object to speak back to him- Hoping for the whisper of the full value of life to be expressed (Just like Gertrudis put all her love into her food and wanted her food to reflect love back to her-This is how she whispered the full value of her love.

A Search for Freedom

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain can be looked at in many ways. A multitude of ways to interpret the story. I would have to agree upon that A Search for Freedom is basically the main key. What or how the story is related, well really interpreted. To understand why one would pick this interpretation to describe the story, one must have detailed examples and facts to conclude it. There are so many examples and facts in this novel where upon choosing the best would be the easiest to understand why picked. Huck escapes from reality, Jim escapes to freedom, Pap escapes to liquor, and Huck escapes from Pap.

From the start Huck had to escape reality to get a better understanding of the world." We tiptoed along a path amongst the trees back toward the end of the widow's garden."(Pg6)

He escapes his home so that he is capable to experience the reality or realism in the world. He believes that living away from society has put his fears away and introduced him to his life. Even when he flows along the river to get peace and quite and well to get away from people, he still experiences an escape of reality.

Help with essay on Night by Elie Weisel

Jim, known as a runaway slave. In search of freedom, Jim escapes from the farm and heads North to freedom but gets lost on the way and travels south. Jim tags along with Huck both in search of freedom. On their trail they both encounter many obstacles that intertwine with later obstacles in the story. Like when they had to get directions but then it turned out to be a chases for a dead kid and a runaway slave.

Pap kown as Huck's dad escapes to liquor to loosen up his tensions and become another person. He leaves town with Huck at the start and moves into a log cabin in the middle of nowhere. Pap finds out that Huck has money on him so basically; he takes it and goes buy liquor. When pap drinks liquor he becomes this drunken man. But from Pap's point of view he then sees life the way it should be seen. He calls his son the devil. One could say that Pap is within his own world.

When Pap gets drunk, he leaves and locks up Huck in the cabin with no way out. Which leaves Huck in a burden. He tries many ways to escape. He tries to pry the pieces of wood apart, but unsuccessfully he fails. When he does find out a way to escape from the house, in no time flat he does. Then back away from civilization and back to a journey of peace.

Everyone was supposedly running away from everyone. Each character had a different reason but mostly the same goal. A search for freedom. Whether it is Huck escaping reality, Jim escaping to freedom, Pap escaping to liquor, or Huck again escaping the drunken Pap; their main objective was to escape, and to be able to say they accomplished it.

Odysseus: Is he really free?

Most people today cannot do whatever they feel like. They are limited by their religion, the government, or some other power. In the adventures of Odysseus, Odysseus leaves his kingdom to fight an ongoing war in the kingdom of Troy. When he reaches the city, he leads his troops to victory. Odysseus does not do this just because he felt like becoming a hero. He was ordered by the Greek gods to go to Troy and lead himself and his kingdom to victory. If Odysseus was able to do whatever he wanted, he probably would have said that he would not risk his life and leave his wife and newborn son just to fight a war that would most likely have no effect on his kingdom, and himself. But, he did not do that. To him, he was ordered by the gods to fight. This shows that he obviously is limited by what he is able to do. Odysseus is brave and fearless, but is not able to do whatever he wishes. His capabilities are limited by the gods; therefore he does whatever the gods tell him to do.

Since Odysseus has all of the gods to "watch is back" he would obviously have no fear since the most powerful things on earth would be there to help him if anyone or "ones" decided to pick a fight with him. Odysseus knew that with the gods on his side, not a single person in the world would be able to stand up to him. This knowledge of power made Odysseus feel, and act like he was fearless. Without fear, Odysseus could do whatever he felt like doing whenever, and wherever he wanted.

Just because he did not have any fear, Odysseus still could not keep all of his soldiers under his control during a battle. Odysseus was also a brave man. For example when he and his men where sailing straight for the island of the Sirens, he was brave enough to sacrifice his sanity just so his men would be able to save themselves and steer the boat in the right direction and get away from the Sirens' deadly song. This proves that Odysseus was also brave on top of being fearless.

Being brave, and being able to do whatever he wanted to do, whenever he wanted to, still did not give Odysseus ultimate power. Why? Because he is limited by the gods, the same beings that give him his fearlessness and braveness were the same that kept him from using it to gain total and complete power.

Custom writing service can write essays on Odysseus: Is he really free?

Odysseus is fearless, brave, and limited by what he can do by the gods. If any other person in the world today were given this power, fearlessness, and bravery, without being limited by the "gods", they would most likely go and try to take out the president of the United States. They would do this just because they could. Odysseus would also do the exact same thing if he were not limited by the gods.

Please note that this sample paper on Odysseus: Is he really free? is for your review only. Jenolan Caves recount

On the 1th of August 00 I lined up with the other students in my grade to board the bus to the sheep and Cattle dome. After a long drive we arrived at Katoomba. At Kattomba we went on the scenic Skyway even though we wanted to go on the Scenic railway a certain person (not mentioning any names) made us go on the boring scenic skyway.

After Katoomba we headed off to The Bathurst sheep and cattle dome where we learnt about cows and sheep and had to watch this boring show about cows and sheep. After the show Dinner was served and all our table got was a very small amount probably less then what the sheep got compared to the other tables.

After dinner we went to make lunch for the next day after that we had a Trivia, and then it was straight to bed (where Mr. Rumbelow got locked inside the toilets).

Cheap Custom Essays on Jenolan Caves Essay

On Tuesday we headed into the Buses to head to a very boring Hill end. Where we pointlessly learned about a place which was too lazy to build modern homes instead of keeping their old houses.

After from Hill end we went for a boring long drive to Jenolan Caves because the Teachers wouldn't put on a video and made us look at the " Wonderful Scenery ". At Jenolan Caves the Camp just got Worst.

After Dinner we went to our rooms which took along time for me because my luggage had no wheels and I had to carry it up and half way up my sleeping bag fell out. Our room was the worst accommodation available at Jenolan Caves the "Gatehouse"with only broken bunk beds.

On Wednesday morning we woke up at 615 to get dressed and go to a horrible breakfast. Then we went to look at some boring rocks in show caves. After show caves we had lunch then FINALY something good happened we got to go Adventure Caving.

After Adventure caves we had a horrible dinner and desert and then we went to look at more boring rocks in show caves. Then we went to bed.

On Thursday we woke up at 615 to have a horrible breakfast and went Abseiling. We were disappointed to see that the rock that we were abseiling off was not that high we were expecting much higher.

After abseiling we went to have finally a decent meal of lunch which was a BBQ. After lunch we just had free time until another Horrible dinner. After Dinner we all went to watch a video of the camp. And then went to bed.

On Friday Morning we got up at 615 to have the same horrible breakfast and having to go on the most boringest walk of our lives, which me Joseph and Daniel got stung by this Plant.

After the Boring walk we had our lunch which was a very small amount of fish and chips. Then we had free time until the bus was ready to leave back to Normanhurst.

I was glad to go back home away from the most boring and worst camp I've ever been on and I'm sure my friends will agree.

John Doe

Miss Brill looked forward to her Sunday outing when she went to the public gardens to eavesdrop on people's conversations. Miss Brill seems to consider herself an expert on involving herself in the lives of whom she does not know, "She had become really quite expert, she thought at listening as though she didn't listen..." Miss Brill is an old lonely woman, but instead of being depressed she creates a world of her own in which she is important and valued. She enjoys going to the park, but a very rude couple she overhears changes the way she sees herself. In this short story, Miss Brill, is a round character. It is very difficult to understand her because she does not understand herself. She tries to make her life more than it really is. Sitting in the park, Miss Brill comments on the people walking by, "The old people who sat on the benches like statues, the little children running here and there, a beautiful woman accidentally dropping her violets..." She makes up little stories about them as if she knows them, for example, when a young couple sat beside her on the bench she said, "The hero and heroine, of course, just arrived from his father's yacht." Miss Brill is way out of touch with reality and lives her life through a dream. She secretly dives into the lives of other people, taking in their words and actions creating a fantasy world all of her own that she was sure she belonged in.Order custom research paper on Miss Brill

At the end of the story, Miss Brill is sitting at her usual spot, fantasizing that she is a play along with everyone in the park, and the park is the stage. And if for some reason

she were not to show up, everyone would notice, "No doubt somebody would

have noticed if she hadn't been there..." Soon a young girl and boy sit beside her and shatter her world. They laughed and made fun of her and her fur. The girl said her fur looked like a "fried whiting", but the boy hurt her the most by saying, "Why does she come here at all who wants her?" All this time Miss Brill thought she fit in at the park, but the young couple may have told the true reality. The last paragraph of the story is not only the turning point of the story, but of Miss Brill's character also. Miss Brill becomes a different person, she changes and she begins to see how reality can be really cruel. As Miss Brill was putting her fur away she heard something crying, and this is when she realizes that she has wasted her entire life by not living at all. Miss Brill is a dynamic character because her thoughts about herself changed dramatically.Never had Miss Brill spoke, heard, or seen through her own eyes. She thought she was meaningful, but she found that she was not because she never gave herself the chance to mean something to someone else. Miss Brill is very round and dynamic character throughout this story.

Snapping Beans

The poem "Snapping Beans" written by Lisa Parker is a very good poem that talks about to college. For some or most people college life is a good experience, although you have to make some adjustments to different situations. Lisa Parker was around the age of twenty seven when she wrotepoem. The poem starts with the narrator and her grandmother sitting on the porch snapping beans. From reading the poem you find out that she is in college and it is not in the same area where she actually live because of line 5 from school from the North. I was home for the weekend from school from the North implies that she is from the south also sitting on the porch snapping beans. Is what you would think about when you think of the south the country. Not as modernized as the North. With Grandma humming a song What a friend we have in Jesus gives you a sense that she is a religious person and that she appreciates the simple things in life sitting on the porch snapping beans and watching the sunrise not in a hurry. With the gray stare it seems that Grandma could sense that something is different or that the narrator need to talk or has some unknown issue. You get the feeling that maybe the narrator lived with the Grand mother in that case you would wonder where is her mother. And with them sitting on the porch together that they shared a close bond. But now that he has gone to school she is learning new things that she want to share with her grandma but does not think she would understand. Or could not relate to it. Because of this you get the sense that maybe her grand ma was not educated. All she knew was raising kids and taking care of the housework. Just the gentle caring touch makes the author want to break down and tell her grandma how homesick she was at times and how she cried because she was away from home and probably lonely had not meet any friends which is the experience of going away to college. Of course she meet and made friends that did not have the same county background. Telling her grandma that the evening star was a planet might be something that her grand ma would not understand or believed in. Her friends that wore nose rings and wrote poems about sex and alcohol may be considered a bad influence on her and obvious her religious up bringing. Maybe she felt that her grand mo would not accept her friends. But by being a way from home although things a re different maybe she can relate the these people on a more personal level beyond the outer appearance or religion. It seems that she is embarrassed by her accent and because she has not been taught how to respond with a group of people. But despite it all she is happy. She is experience something new and she liked it. The line school is fine shows that she is uncomfortable sharing her feeling with her grand ma .

Sometimes people deserve to be hurt or even killed for their stupidity. The story "To Build Fire" tells of a man just like that. The man was sexist, self-conscious and inexperienced as he traveled off down the Yukon Trail awaiting for him, were not his friends at their camp, but farther down the trail, awaited a long painful death. There is also in real life people who just need to learn something from their stupidity by death or pain. People who pursue extremely dangerous feats ought to be condemned for their foolish and lack of awareness.

In the story "To Build Fire," a man plans to travel down the Yukon Trail and meet his friends at their camp miles away. On his way, he came upon an old man who had warned him to bring a traveling partner along on the trail because the trail had very dangerous weather at that time of year. The man completely ignores the advice and when his legs iced up for his stupidity of falling into a hot spring and turning his legs into a pair of icicles and numbed he was forced to make a fire. He had failed and then became delirious and ran amuck trying to find warmth. Along the way, he had made a dog companion whom he tried to kill for warmth. Then slowly the rest of his body froze and he died. The man in the story shows qualities such as, he was self-reliant because he didn't think he needed a traveling partner which brings up the factor of his foolishness because he had built a fire under a tree and didn't take the old man's advice. He also was sexist because he had called the old man "womenish" for saying bring a traveling partner along. From these traits of the main character(the man), I learned that the man deserved his death for his foolishness and lack of awareness.

Most people do foolish things in life that they deserve to pay for, no matter the cost. People of all kinds every day do something stupid, or foolish, and still manage to weasel themselves out of the problem. People need to do foolish things in life and be condemned for it, to learn how to become a better person. For example, a soldier goes into battle without weaponry, or protection and managed to come out without a scratch on him/her. Another example would be, a man goes to work and stands up to his boss and insults his boss and does not get in the least bit of trouble. In truth, people who do silly, foolish, oblivious things like that deserves to be killed or, at least injured or, fired or, at least warned or, yelled at for their being so idiotic.

People who pursue extremely dangerous feats ought to be condemned for their foolish and lack of awareness. People should learn to do things in life that are brave, but foolish. They should be awarded for their bravery and punished for their foolishness. Learning from mistakes, can give people experience and make them wiser. People deserve punishment for being so ignorant.

Shakespeare and Macbeth

Shakespeare altered many things of Holinshed's 'History' of Macbeth. In the history, Macbeth had a genuine grievance against Duncan, since Duncan had blocked Macbeth's legal path to the throne. Shakespeare changes that Macbeth kills Duncan without any reasons he kills just for his ambition because Shakespeare needs to show that Macbeth's mind is changing by Lady Macbeth. At first, Macbeth respects Duncan, he says 'First, as I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed; then, as his host, who should against his murderer shut the door,'(Act I, Sc 7, Ln 1) but after conversation between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, he changes himself to very ambitiously. Lady Macbeth describes his husband as 'unmanliness' person to change his mind. She says 'When you durst do it, then you were a man; and, to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man.'(Act I, Sc 7, Ln 4) Also, if Macbeth had a good reason to kill Duncan, like history did, then the audiences will not think Macbeth is a tyrant or a betrayer, like we think Macduff should kill Macbeth. Shakespeare wants the audiences to feel anger toward Macbeth and sadness toward Duncan. Therefore, Macbeth did not have genuine grievance against Duncan.

In the history, there was only one witch. The witches are very important things in the Scottish play. They open the story at the first. We get some information of Macbeth and the background of Scotland by their conversation. But, if there were only one witch, it would be very hard to understand what is happening in Scotland. Also, three witches make the tone of the story more depressible, darker and evilly. When they say 'Fair is foul, and foul is fair,' (Act I, Sc 1, Ln 11) it is more effective to say three witches than only one witch. I think three witches also represent three destiny Gods, the Fates, and they tell three prophecies to Macbeth. Thus, Shakespeare changes to three witches to make more powerful evil for his tragedy play.

Macbeth did not hire murderers in the history. However, Macbeth hires murderers in Shakespeare world. I think Shakespeare wants to make Macbeth even more evil person. Macbeth gets everything that he wants and he does not want to have any responsibilities of his deeds. For example, he kills Macduff's family by murderers, not himself, so he does not feel guilty. He says 'The castle of Macduff I will surprise; seize upon Fife; give to the edge of the sword his wife, his babes and all unfortunate souls that trace him in his line.' (Act IV, Sc 1, Ln 151) If he kills them by himself, he may fell guilty, like he did when he killed Duncan. Now, he finds a way to kill people without feeling guilty by hiring murderers. Also, when he wants to kill Banquo, he may be afraid of him because he is a general and very good fighter, so he hires three murderers to kill him. Therefore, Shakespeare made murderers for Macbeth.

Hester

In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne gives Hester Prynne the challenge of living in a community where everyone shuns on her the committing adultery. In addition to this, Hester has another challenge of providing for herself and her child Pearl as a single parent. Throughout the novel one may obtain confused thought as to how Hester feels about Pearl. Does Hester look at Pearl as being a curse, or a blessing? This question could cause a difference of opinions due to different point of views of different incidents. However, throughout the novel, one can really see that Hester looks at Pearl as a true blessing; since at two different occasions such as when Hester refers to Pearl as her happiness, her pearl, and also the meaning behind the naming of Pearl, one can see her love for her.

Throughout the novel at different times Hester expresses feelings about Pearl from different aspects of her behavior which all build up to display her love for Pearl. One reads, "She is my happiness! Pearl keeps me here in life" (10-104). Hester says this quote when the governor tells her that he thinks it is better off for Pearl to be removed from Hester's care. Hester's response to the governor obviously shows that Pearl means everything to her and they cannot take Pearl away from her. This quote proves that Pearl is so special to Hester and is the reason she lives; without Pearl; she would not be who she is at this point in her life.

Another incident that shows how Hester appreciates Pearl so much and believes she is special, is simply the naming of Pearl. One quote reads, "Her Pearl! For so had Hester called her. She named the infant 'Pearl' as being of great price, purchased with all she had, - her mother's only treasure" (8). This quote explains Hester's reasoning for naming Pearl, Pearl. A pearl is valuable and Hester names Pearl this because she believes Pearl is a treasure, something to be proud of; her treasure. This explanation in the novel expresses how Hester is grateful to have Pearl and considers her a blessing.

Custom Essays on Hester

As a whole, the fact that Pearl is a true blessing to Hester, carves the image for Hester. To start, on the outside Hester is a puritan but on the inside is a radical against the puritan ways. She does not believe that men should have more rights, and that the puritans do not understand a woman. Hester acts as a puritan and does not speak out and rebel against their ways because she knows if she does Pearl would be taken away from her. From this, one can see that Hester would do whatever is necessary to make sure she will never be without Pearl. In a way, Pearl keeps Hester from being who she really is. Another image of Hester is her "A". Therefore, Pearl is always a reminder of her A and the crime she committed because she is the outcome of her crime. Pearl is a living, walking, breathing symbol of Hester's A. Overall, Hester believes Pearl is a true blessing not a curse.

O, Beware, my lord, of jealousy! It is the green-eyed monster (..15-6)...

If a monster with green eyes were coming at an individual, what would one do? The answer of course, depends on the circumstances of that particular person. Would one permit the green-eyed monster to conquer his or her own mind, and control his or her every move? In this case the green-eyed monster would indeed be jealousy. Now lets use Iago for example. He was prejudice towards the African American, Othello, to whom he held a lower military position; a less qualified man, Cassio, was promoted as Othellos lieutenant, and he wasnt high in social classes. Iagos life was excruciatingly unsatisfactory and Iago welcomed the green-eyed monster with is arms wide open. First of all, why does one feel a need for control over others? Besides jealousy, could ones own life not be going the way they would like? Iago didnt have power over anything. The only thing he had power over was his emotions, and he couldnt even control them. He says, and I quote, Tis in ourselves that we are thus or thus. Our bodies are our gardens, to which our wills are gardeners (1..61-6). In translation, it means only we have control over out internal selves. We are also the only ones who can take control over our feelings. As soon as Iago put his scheme into action, he saw results Now art thou my lieutenant (.4.545). Iago had Othello under his control, just as he anticipated. Iago told lies to Othello and to try and convince him to bring his own wants to life; one being lieutenant for Othello. Additionally, how could a person be so cruel? Iago was ruthless and surmounted by jealousy, selfishness, prejudice, and he was also spiteful. Iago had said, I have it. It is engendered. Hell and night must bring this worlds light (1..446-47). Iago was referring to his cruel scheme designed to destroy Othellos life. How selfish of Iago to want to impose his cruel lies and actions on these somewhat good, unsuspecting people. He wanted to cause destruction for the sole purpose of satisfying his desires. Next, what happens when an individual has fulfilled his or her goals? One might make higher goals; but Iago was left with three corpses, a sealed mouth, and a torturous punishment ahead of him. There was no one left for Iago to share his pleasures with. Iago was all alone with no one around that would ever trust a person like him. Lodovico stated, To you, lord governor, remains the censure of this hellish villain. The time, the place, the future, O, enforce it (5..40-). Finally, if one can see no good in his or her own life, having a green-eyed monster whose purpose is to destroy other lives...must feel good. A person could get pleasure out of hurting others, but there are always consequences. Iago did this, but the question remains, Was it really worth it?

The tragedy that happened on September 11th shocked America. Terrorism has been a problem in the world for a long time and America is still trying to come back from the events that occurred. Why did this happen? What provoked the terrorists to do such a thing? These are a couple of the questions that burn in the brains of Americans.

There are a lot of causes that are believed to be the true reason to September 11th, but there are two that are the most believed. The most believed cause is that of the issue of religion. The individuals responsible for crimes against humanity of September 11 believed that their cause was so righteous that they were called upon to murder others in its name. This belief is not unique to a particular strand of extremist Islam "Marano CNSNews.com." It was a basis for violence in Christianity for many centuries and is still used by some extremist Christians (for example, those who bombed abortion clinics) to justify violence. These religious ideas are a subset of a wider set of ideas, often utopian ideas, that have been frequently associated with extreme human rights violations "Muslim Militant Extremist page 1." The second believed cause is because of the United States troops in Saudi Arabia. This is Osama Bin Ladens major peeve. This endeavors him to keep with his plan of the fall of Saudi Arabias monarchy. As we try to come to grips with the tragedy of September 11, as individuals try to understand the causes of it, we will all remember the effects of it. We turn first to the victims of the September 11 attack and their families and friends. The enormity of the loss of life, and the premeditated nature of the attacks on September 11th justifies calling them a crime against humanity. Murder, when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population is a crime against humanity. The victims of this crime are entitled not only to our deepest sympathy, but also to justice, either in the courts or in an international tribunal. Another effect of terrorism in America is Recently, the U.S. has given large sums of money to countries in order to improve anti-terrorist policies. This aid is very important and should be continued indefinitely because of the U.S.s novice status in dealing with terrorism. Even though the threat of terrorism is apparent when the U.S. gives financial aid to other countries, it is well worth it because the more money the U.S. gives out, that much less of a threat terrorism is. As a result of the U.S.s status, foreign powers, such as Israel, should definitely give aid to the U.S. especially in the areas of tactics and training, where the U.S. can benefit the most.

The disaster of September 11th will stay in the hearts of the people of America forever. Not only did it touch the lives of the victims and their families but of all the citizens on the United States.

If the word ~{!0~}fact~{!1~} here is broadly defined as all matters in the world, for example it means natural laws, human history, science discovery, and so on, I can not arbitrarily say facts are all stubborn things. Some facts can and have been altered by human being through the great efforts our ancestors have made.

If we retrospect on the human~{!/~}s history, we might be surprised to find that throughout the process of conquering the nature, human being has successfully change the world a lot. Many things that were once regarded as impossible have come into reality. Ever since Bell invented telephone, peoples far apart in the world can talk to each other, which could have happened only by people face to face; once if a child had dreamed of flying like a bird freely in the sky, he would be blamed for the adults regarded flying as a fantasy. However since Brothers Right created the first plane in the world, flying in the sky is no long a hopeless dream. Numerous stories prove that it is man that changes all these seemingly stubborn things through his power. And this power comes from intellect, persistence, effort, belief and sprite and so many virtue of human being.

Man~{!/~}s power also comes from the ability to realize the laws of nature, which can never be changed by man~{!/~}s limit ability. Admittedly, there are so many facts that cannot be altered by our wishes, our inclinations or the dictates of our passions, however, man~{!/~}s intellect enable human being realize that these unchangeable facts are the regulations of the nature and using what cannot be changed to change what can be altered is what we can do and should do. Newton~{!/~}s discovery of gravity identified that we can not fly because we can not get rid of the gravity the earth exerts on us. We now easily flee from the gravity by exceeding the limit of speed that gravity can hold.

On the contrary, if we were to change the stubborn facts that can never be altered by our wish, our inclination or because of our ignorance, what would wait for us is failure. Take the China~{!/~}s economic pattern for example, as a socialism country, China once implements planning-economic system, that means social wealth is distributed equally which is a symbol of highly developed country in Karl Marx~{!/~}s ~{!0~}Capitalism~{!1~}. Unfortunately, this system is unfit for the low rate of generosity of current China. Economic level was not promoted until market-economic system was adopted. What we can learn from this failure is that the economic can not be easily changed and only we obey the law can we lead our country to prosperity.

Therefore, although there is something we can not change, we are encouraged to have the belief something in the world we really can change. Only if we hold the optimistic belief can we try our best persistently to change the world to a beautiful globe family.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas came into form originally as a novel written by

Hunter S. Thompson. The film would come along about 0 years later. Many have stated

that this book is one of many that would be "unfilmable".

Now you shouldn't have to read a book in order to enjoy the movie based on it.

Buy Fear and Loathing term paper

Usually and especially nowadays, people do a lot less reading and more often than not

don't even know the movie they are watching is based on a book. If you can however do

both sometimes it can help to decipher and understand what you're supposed to be

watching for. This may be the case for some with Fear and Loathing due to the fact that

you may spend the entire movie searching for the wrong elements.

Hunter S. Thompson himself picked Johnny Depp to play him in the movie, and

this brings the movie much closer to the book. I don't believe anyone else could have

portrayed the character in such a believable manner. The director of the film, Terry

Gilliam also played a large part in the transformation his prior film 1 Monkeys was also

somewhat of a distinctive picture. I think both of these elements helped make it possible

for an "unfilmable" book to be made into a film.

One major difference between the film and the book is change. Many changes had

to have been made in the film during all stages of production. However Hunter S.

Thompson would never even re-read his own manuscripts before handing them in for

print. Right there much of the substance is lost. One thing that makes his books so unique

is they are written in genuine thought and reaction. The movie cannot portray the vivid

pictures that reading the pages of the book and letting him ramble on can paint in your

mind. One good example of this is the scene in the pogo lounge at the Beverly Heights

Hotel. If I had read the book prior to seeing the movie I would've been extremely

disappointed with how it turned out. At the same time reading it after seeing the movie

also in a way spoiled it because I already had the scene in my head. This made it harder

to push that out of my mind and accept the book for what it was.

I have always been very sure about whether or not I like a book better than the

movie based on it. The answer has always been yes and this should have nothing to do

with the order it is watched or read in. With this work I had watched the movie first many

times before I had the chance to read the book. Something draws me to the movie more,

possibly because it is deeply involved with visuals, and the film has stuck in my head

rather than the book and this is probably due to the fact that I saw the movie first. In some

aspects the movie has advantages where something can be thrown in that wasn't

necessarily spoken about in the book. For example Johnny Depp waving the fly swatter

in "bat country". Or the dead bat on the ground after the car pulls away.

I think the purposes of myths and stories are something for us to believe in. A myth is usually a story carried on throughout centuries from our ancestors. To believe in something helps us to keep our beliefs as if it was a religion. Belief is influential to many people and that is what keeps people today something to live for, like people who go to mass everyday or someone who prays everyday for the well being of themselves and everyone. What if there wasn't religion? Well I think if we didn't have religion most people would be suicidal and break a lot of laws. Religion is almost like another type of government that controls the mind. It gives the person certain limits and if one does good, he or she goes to heaven. Religion usually set rules for people to follow to control themselves.

In most traditions for Catholics like me, the newborn child is usually baptized. Baptism plays as a role to keep the person holy and be protected by the Holy Spirit and by our God. As the child grows up, he or she has to choose the route to do what a catholic will do. Being baptized helps people being possessed by a demon or some kind of evil. It keeps good within them. People still get baptized even if they are old or young, baptism usually take place months after when a child is born.

In marriage, I would have to be Baptized, pass courses of Holy Communion; eating of the bread and also Confirmation; a deeper devotion to God. Also when the day comes, Confession is required for he or she has to confess what they have done wrong and be guilty of. This would be required in marriage in a church as a Catholic. Being a Catholic isn't that easy, it is very strict. Going to mass every Sunday is usually hard for people and all it takes is an hour of your day.
