I recently have encountered a friend who has been charged with harassment in the State of New York. Essentially the criminal complaint of harassment carries only a penalty of a violation (not even a misdemeanor) with penalties of a few days in jail or a small fine.

So far, in my research I have found that the NYS Court of Appeals has struck down a former portion of the NYS Harassment statute in a case called People v. Dietze.

In Dietze, it was determined that calling a woman a bitch and her daughter who was mentally deficient a hor, and stating that some day or night out on the street I am going to get you did not constitute harassment and that the statute was unconstitutionally vague.

To me, given the 1st Amendment rights of Free Speech, to tell someone the work FUCK in any context, other than the context that the speaker intends to do physical harm to the victim, cannot be made criminal under any strech of the imagination.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Harassment - Giving the finger to someone in public.

It is well settled law that if a public official under color of State Law deprives a person of their civil rights (in this case the First Amendment right under the US Constitution), the person detained/arrest may have the right to sue the public officials under 4 USC section 18 as well as common law false arrest and unlawful imprisonment.

The problems that exist in the United States of America is that people allow law enforcement agencies to walk all over their civil and other rights without vigorously defending themselves.

In my friends case, the maximum penalty is something like fifteen (15) days in the county jail and/or a fine of about $100! In order to vigorously defend such a matter, he would probably end up spending at least twenty times that amount, and of course, the time that he might face in jail he would loose from work adds to a general feeling by most reasonable people is to try to work out a deal with the prosecutor as opposed to vigorously fighting the charge and following up with litigation either in state or federal courts (or both).

Last but not least is that most people are unable to handle themselves in both a criminal or civil court involving pretrial motions, discovery, suppression hearings, and all of the other things that go with either defending or prosecuting such a case. As a result, people give in.

I am continuing to research this point and will come back to this web site when finished. Dont have any yet!

Reaper Man Book Review

The book I have currently been reading is called Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett, the book was first published in 11 by Gollancz and was edited and re-published by Corgi in 1. The book is one of Terry Pratchetts Disc world novels (fantasy world) and its genre is fantasy.

The book is about the life of a wizard whos death goes terribly wrong when the angel of death has to retire from his job and live in the mortal world. Both are confused, as one wanders the land as a zombie, while the other has to adapt to a totally new life, and must fast the fact that he too must die like all others.

The main characters in this book are Windle Poons the wizard, DEATH, and Arch chancellor Ridcully of the University of Wizardry. DEATH is a character from the beginning and most people already know who and what he is just by looking at his name, however he changes a lot in this book from beginning to end, his personality and way of thinking are the main changes. Windle Poons is introduced by the writer as is Ridcully when the author writes a small prelude and writes about the University and who is in there. Windle Poons has a major change as he goes from being alive to a zombie. Ridcully mainly stays the same but develops his personality and way of thinking just like DEATH. Hint Hint!

Buy Book review Terry Pratchett term paper

The setting of the book can be quite confusing and annoying as it jumps from character to character e.g. Windle Poons was really having a fun time being dead. Death…………………However you can really adapt to it after a while. Each plot is revealed by the author giving a short foreword about the following subject and at the beginning it talks about the world itself and introduces newcomers to the Disc world. This is very important for without the preludes readers would be lost and their minds would be wondering intensely.

I like this book because it is very funny and also a fantasy book which I am a big fan of. I like the way the author has written the book, the way he comes about introducing each character which comes along. The way he jumps from character to character can be quite annoying, but it makes you want to read more as you want to find out what happens to the character you were just reading about. What I dislike about this book is the way it jumps from character to character which confused me a lot. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good fantasy book with a bit of comedy and who doesn't mind being jumped around, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like fantasy and being jumped around.

I would give this book a three out of five as it is a very good book which I enjoyed reading but it had its major downfall.

Like water to chocolate is a tragic love story, filled with the most magical recipes. A Mexican family with old traditions and a mother who strands her youngest daughter, Gertrudis, from falling in love and being happy. Gertrudis, was born, and raised in the kitchen and learnt the secrets of spiritual cooking. She is envied by her three sisters, and her mother, and is in love with a man, Juan, but their love is an impossible love because of the fate that is in store for them.

What I found most entertaining in this novel, turned into a movie, was the actual love story. The story of love and freedom Gertrudis and her secret lover battle to find, and how she uses cooking to express her love and sadness. Laura Esquivel, the writer of this novel, used a lot of fantasy and symbolisms to unravel her story which made it the more interesting.

For example, when Gertrudis and her lover were secretly seeing each other and they knew strongly in their hearts that nothing could separate them, she felt alive. While cooking her favorite magical recipe, ' Rose petal Wings', the love and all the emotions she felt were all poured into her food, so that everybody that tasted her meal could feel the same passion. Every one could feel the aphrodisiac taste.

MESSAGE OF MOVIE

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Analysing the love story of "like Water To Chocolate"

I think the message the writer is trying to portray is that what someone feels emotionally can directly affect the work or the art. The quality of our actions is reflected by how we feel. When things are done with the deepest true feelings of love, this love is manifested in our work and thus become satisfying and fulfilling to us, and more appreciated by others.

HOW IT APPLIES TO THE METAPHISICAL

In this movie, I see the cooking of Gertrudis as an expression that promotes life on a life-less average food. By this I mean, that a meal that could've been as average as any other, is then transformed into the greatest piece of art. She would transcend into her work and manifest the unmanifest. As Maharishi would define an artist, as a expressionist of life, which sees a "living face on a dead stone" (creativity in her food), the artist speaks to the object and wants the object to speak back to him- Hoping for the whisper of the full value of life to be expressed (Just like Gertrudis put all her love into her food and wanted her food to reflect love back to her-This is how she whispered the full value of her love.

A Search for Freedom

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain can be looked at in many ways. A multitude of ways to interpret the story. I would have to agree upon that A Search for Freedom is basically the main key. What or how the story is related, well really interpreted. To understand why one would pick this interpretation to describe the story, one must have detailed examples and facts to conclude it. There are so many examples and facts in this novel where upon choosing the best would be the easiest to understand why picked. Huck escapes from reality, Jim escapes to freedom, Pap escapes to liquor, and Huck escapes from Pap.

From the start Huck had to escape reality to get a better understanding of the world." We tiptoed along a path amongst the trees back toward the end of the widow's garden."(Pg6)

He escapes his home so that he is capable to experience the reality or realism in the world. He believes that living away from society has put his fears away and introduced him to his life. Even when he flows along the river to get peace and quite and well to get away from people, he still experiences an escape of reality.

Help with essay on Night by Elie Weisel

Jim, known as a runaway slave. In search of freedom, Jim escapes from the farm and heads North to freedom but gets lost on the way and travels south. Jim tags along with Huck both in search of freedom. On their trail they both encounter many obstacles that intertwine with later obstacles in the story. Like when they had to get directions but then it turned out to be a chases for a dead kid and a runaway slave.

Pap kown as Huck's dad escapes to liquor to loosen up his tensions and become another person. He leaves town with Huck at the start and moves into a log cabin in the middle of nowhere. Pap finds out that Huck has money on him so basically; he takes it and goes buy liquor. When pap drinks liquor he becomes this drunken man. But from Pap's point of view he then sees life the way it should be seen. He calls his son the devil. One could say that Pap is within his own world.

When Pap gets drunk, he leaves and locks up Huck in the cabin with no way out. Which leaves Huck in a burden. He tries many ways to escape. He tries to pry the pieces of wood apart, but unsuccessfully he fails. When he does find out a way to escape from the house, in no time flat he does. Then back away from civilization and back to a journey of peace.

Everyone was supposedly running away from everyone. Each character had a different reason but mostly the same goal. A search for freedom. Whether it is Huck escaping reality, Jim escaping to freedom, Pap escaping to liquor, or Huck again escaping the drunken Pap; their main objective was to escape, and to be able to say they accomplished it.

Most people today cannot do whatever they feel like. They are limited by their religion, the government, or some other power. In the adventures of Odysseus, Odysseus leaves his kingdom to fight an ongoing war in the kingdom of Troy. When he reaches the city, he leads his troops to victory. Odysseus does not do this just because he felt like becoming a hero. He was ordered by the Greek gods to go to Troy and lead himself and his kingdom to victory. If Odysseus was able to do whatever he wanted, he probably would have said that he would not risk his life and leave his wife and newborn son just to fight a war that would most likely have no effect on his kingdom, and himself. But, he did not do that. To him, he was ordered by the gods to fight. This shows that he obviously is limited by what he is able to do. Odysseus is brave and fearless, but is not able to do whatever he wishes. His capabilities are limited by the gods; therefore he does whatever the gods tell him to do.

Since Odysseus has all of the gods to "watch is back" he would obviously have no fear since the most powerful things on earth would be there to help him if anyone or "ones" decided to pick a fight with him. Odysseus knew that with the gods on his side, not a single person in the world would be able to stand up to him. This knowledge of power made Odysseus feel, and act like he was fearless. Without fear, Odysseus could do whatever he felt like doing whenever, and wherever he wanted.

Just because he did not have any fear, Odysseus still could not keep all of his soldiers under his control during a battle. Odysseus was also a brave man. For example when he and his men where sailing straight for the island of the Sirens, he was brave enough to sacrifice his sanity just so his men would be able to save themselves and steer the boat in the right direction and get away from the Sirens' deadly song. This proves that Odysseus was also brave on top of being fearless.

Being brave, and being able to do whatever he wanted to do, whenever he wanted to, still did not give Odysseus ultimate power. Why? Because he is limited by the gods, the same beings that give him his fearlessness and braveness were the same that kept him from using it to gain total and complete power.

Custom writing service can write essays on Odysseus: Is he really free?

Odysseus is fearless, brave, and limited by what he can do by the gods. If any other person in the world today were given this power, fearlessness, and bravery, without being limited by the "gods", they would most likely go and try to take out the president of the United States. They would do this just because they could. Odysseus would also do the exact same thing if he were not limited by the gods.

Please note that this sample paper on Odysseus: Is he really free? is for your review only. Jenolan Caves recount

On the 1th of August 00 I lined up with the other students in my grade to board the bus to the sheep and Cattle dome. After a long drive we arrived at Katoomba. At Kattomba we went on the scenic Skyway even though we wanted to go on the Scenic railway a certain person (not mentioning any names) made us go on the boring scenic skyway.

After Katoomba we headed off to The Bathurst sheep and cattle dome where we learnt about cows and sheep and had to watch this boring show about cows and sheep. After the show Dinner was served and all our table got was a very small amount probably less then what the sheep got compared to the other tables.

After dinner we went to make lunch for the next day after that we had a Trivia, and then it was straight to bed (where Mr. Rumbelow got locked inside the toilets).

Cheap Custom Essays on Jenolan Caves Essay

On Tuesday we headed into the Buses to head to a very boring Hill end. Where we pointlessly learned about a place which was too lazy to build modern homes instead of keeping their old houses.

After from Hill end we went for a boring long drive to Jenolan Caves because the Teachers wouldn't put on a video and made us look at the " Wonderful Scenery ". At Jenolan Caves the Camp just got Worst.

After Dinner we went to our rooms which took along time for me because my luggage had no wheels and I had to carry it up and half way up my sleeping bag fell out. Our room was the worst accommodation available at Jenolan Caves the "Gatehouse"with only broken bunk beds.

On Wednesday morning we woke up at 615 to get dressed and go to a horrible breakfast. Then we went to look at some boring rocks in show caves. After show caves we had lunch then FINALY something good happened we got to go Adventure Caving.

After Adventure caves we had a horrible dinner and desert and then we went to look at more boring rocks in show caves. Then we went to bed.

On Thursday we woke up at 615 to have a horrible breakfast and went Abseiling. We were disappointed to see that the rock that we were abseiling off was not that high we were expecting much higher.

After abseiling we went to have finally a decent meal of lunch which was a BBQ. After lunch we just had free time until another Horrible dinner. After Dinner we all went to watch a video of the camp. And then went to bed.

On Friday Morning we got up at 615 to have the same horrible breakfast and having to go on the most boringest walk of our lives, which me Joseph and Daniel got stung by this Plant.

After the Boring walk we had our lunch which was a very small amount of fish and chips. Then we had free time until the bus was ready to leave back to Normanhurst.

I was glad to go back home away from the most boring and worst camp I've ever been on and I'm sure my friends will agree.

John Doe

Miss Brill looked forward to her Sunday outing when she went to the public gardens to eavesdrop on people's conversations. Miss Brill seems to consider herself an expert on involving herself in the lives of whom she does not know, "She had become really quite expert, she thought at listening as though she didn't listen..." Miss Brill is an old lonely woman, but instead of being depressed she creates a world of her own in which she is important and valued. She enjoys going to the park, but a very rude couple she overhears changes the way she sees herself. In this short story, Miss Brill, is a round character. It is very difficult to understand her because she does not understand herself. She tries to make her life more than it really is. Sitting in the park, Miss Brill comments on the people walking by, "The old people who sat on the benches like statues, the little children running here and there, a beautiful woman accidentally dropping her violets..." She makes up little stories about them as if she knows them, for example, when a young couple sat beside her on the bench she said, "The hero and heroine, of course, just arrived from his father's yacht." Miss Brill is way out of touch with reality and lives her life through a dream. She secretly dives into the lives of other people, taking in their words and actions creating a fantasy world all of her own that she was sure she belonged in.Order custom research paper on Miss Brill

At the end of the story, Miss Brill is sitting at her usual spot, fantasizing that she is a play along with everyone in the park, and the park is the stage. And if for some reason

she were not to show up, everyone would notice, "No doubt somebody would

have noticed if she hadn't been there..." Soon a young girl and boy sit beside her and shatter her world. They laughed and made fun of her and her fur. The girl said her fur looked like a "fried whiting", but the boy hurt her the most by saying, "Why does she come here at all who wants her?" All this time Miss Brill thought she fit in at the park, but the young couple may have told the true reality. The last paragraph of the story is not only the turning point of the story, but of Miss Brill's character also. Miss Brill becomes a different person, she changes and she begins to see how reality can be really cruel. As Miss Brill was putting her fur away she heard something crying, and this is when she realizes that she has wasted her entire life by not living at all. Miss Brill is a dynamic character because her thoughts about herself changed dramatically.Never had Miss Brill spoke, heard, or seen through her own eyes. She thought she was meaningful, but she found that she was not because she never gave herself the chance to mean something to someone else. Miss Brill is very round and dynamic character throughout this story.
