The Most Commendable Person

The most commendable person in the world today is John Grisham. He is an author whose name has become synonymous with modern legal thrillers for eighteen years.

Grisham's original passion was baseball from age five when he first played the game. He became a good enough player to play at Mississippi State University. He graduated from MSU with a degree in accounting and later went to law school and became an attorney. He practiced law for ten years and was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 18 where he served until 10. It was during his early years as an attorney that he heard testimony in a rape trial that gave him the idea to write his first novel, A Time to Kill. That book led to thirteen more novels that have sold over 60 million copies to date.

Despite his success as a writer, politician and novelist, he never forgot his first love, baseball. He discovered a way to give back to the sport he loved. He became one of the great supporters of baseball for children.

Grisham started by donating $5 million to Mississippi State to create a new baseball facility. He also donated an estimated $10 million to his children's school, St. Andrews in Charlottesville, Virginia. The sports complex at St. Andrews is the equal to a Division II college thanks to his generous donations.

The most commendable thing that Grisham has done was to create the Cove Creek baseball complex and summer tournament. He spent over $0 million to carve a seven-field baseball complex out of the woods of southern Virginia. He donated the land, supervised the building of the facility and personally runs a summer baseball tournament that extends over six weeks every summer. The Cove Creek tournament hosts over two thousand players, ages 8-15, each year. Teams from all over the east coast come to play in the tournament because of the excellent competition and the quality of the facility. A grounds crew headed by Grisham himself maintains each field in perfect condition. Even though he is a famous author and multi-millionaire, he can be seen watering the fields or raking the areas around home plate between games.

It is for his dedication to baseball and the youth of America that John Grisham is the most commendable person in the world today.

Right now I am going to try to explain to you, that in fact, my Nintendo Gamecube is ALIVE, and a species of its own. Although it may not look as if it is subsisting, it is by all means! In the following paragraphs I will prove to you that my Nintendo Gamecube does indeed possess the 7 characteristics that a living organism

must have.

To start off, my Gamecube possesses many living cells on its surface and on its inside from my shedding skin cells. All over the controllers and the system itself, there are thousands of cells booming with life. Like I said, even on the inside where the cooling fan takes in air, there are cells . The Nintendo Gamecube is also organized in a structured fashion. In the middle there is the processor or as I like to call it… the "brain". This is where all the thinking of the Gamecube goes on. Additionally, the Nintendo Gamecube receives energy from a constant power supply connected into a wall outlet, and metabolizes this energy to carry out game play and graphic rendering.

The Nintendo Gamecube responds to the environment in primarily two ways. One, input from the game pad to its processor by players, which tells it what functions to perform. Two, upon pressing the Power, Open, or Reset button, it will react by turning on or opening its cover for disk input. Also the Gamecube does grow, in the means of hard drive space in its memory station, a.k.a. memory cards. Every time data it receives is saved, the space within the memory card expands.

Help with essay on Is it Alive?

The Memory Station also is the main place in where Reproduction takes effect. When two memory cards meet one another and fall in love with each others data, one memory card may want to have some of the other memory cards data. In this case, data is reproduced from one card to another.

Finally and yet still important, is the ability for the Nintendo Gamecube to adapt to its environment. Let's say that one day it's really hot out, the Gamecube must cool down in order to function correctly, and this is why it has an internal cooling fan which operates on point of overheating. This prevents its processor to crash, loosing all its un-stored data which it is still receiving from outside sources.

As I hopefully have clearly proven, the Nintendo Gamecube is a real living organism and should be treated as one. It can easily fit into all 7 categories of the properties of life with no ifs, ands, or buts.

Amazons web site is very user friendly by being easy to navigate. Simple colors allow potential customers to see the trees in their forest of products.

What was once a bookstore on line has developed into a veritable department store.

I liked their search capabilities for finding specific products, going to specific departments ie. Jewellery and the non-related web sites through the google link.

I was surprised by the links to potential competitors such as Toys R Us and Target.

I liked that you could shop internationally as well as domestically for titles from other countries and in different languages.

Their web site is very consistent in design whether you go to France, Germany or Japan. The interface is the same which makes shopping while travelling international just as easy as shopping at home. Consistency aids in customers being comfortable wherever they may be shopping.

The site appears very organized in its layout for finding products and services. I dont visit the site normally but the color red in the title bar indicates to me that they are promoting the upcoming Christmas shopping season. Subliminal color coding.

The site appears to be updated continually making it current which is very important to consumers using the site for finding the latest products and/or information. The purpose of the site in very clear and evident from its design. It sells books, household products, electronics, clothing and many related items. Links to other companies for related products and services tells me that they are business friendly in the marketplace.

The accuracy of the information is also prsented well. There appear to be no spelling mistakes, grammatical errors or misprints in its information presented which would take away some credibililty from its business. Pictures are nicely laid out and bright.

I find that the page is sophisticated enough for the broad range of consumers looking to buy these products. Its not tres chic nor is it bargain basement. Customers want products that are easy to locate and buy as opposed to fancy, hard to navigate interface.

The one thing I did not like was the enormous amount of blank space on the lower part of its homepage. It feels like they should have something there or that it was deleted by mistake. I dont understand why it is blank

Note A brief introduction to the religion of Christianity is helpful is describing the beginning.

Christians believe that there is one god, and that He created the universe and continues to care for it. The followers of Jesus did not accept His death as His end. Jesus followers were certain that Jesus came back from the dead. They believed that He later rose to heaven. The first Christians were Jews. The many disagreements between the two groups in ancient times caused a breakup of the religion. Soon many non-Jews joined the new religion called Christianity. At the beginning there were many kinds of Christian leaders, both men and women. The most important leader of the church was a bishop; women were rarely able to hold this position. Men have almost always held higher positions and have had more power then women. Although unfair to some; Male dominance was preeminent from the time of the earliest written historical records, probably as a result of mens discovery of their role in conception as well as the development of hunting and warfare as prestige activities. The belief that women were naturally weaker and inferior to men also was sanctioned by monotheistic male god-centered religions. Saint Paul urged Christian wives to be obedient to their husbands. In most traditional societies, women generally were at a disadvantage at that time and still until this day. Their education was limited to learning domestic skills, and they had little to no access to positions of power. Pressure was constant to produce many children as a means of their position. Marriage was almost a necessity as a means of support or protection. A married woman usually took her husbands status; and lived with his family, with little recourse in case of ill treatment or nonsupport. Women were also encouraged to believe in their husbands religion even if their previous religion was different. Under Roman law, which influenced later European and American law, husband and wife were one, with the woman the possession of the man. As such, a woman had no legal control over her person, her own land and money, or her children. According to a double standard of morality, respectable women had to be chaste but men did not.

At first the Roman government considered Christianity a legal Jewish sect. Beginning at a very early period and continuing for many years after, various Roman empires persecuted the followers of Christianity; they gave the believers who were both men and women the opportunity to prove their faith by dying for it.

Have you ever wondered if you are really in control of your life? Did you ever think that someone else, such as "big brother", has your life already planned out for you? Well, if you say no, there is no need to fret! There have been many examples of pre-destination in our lives.

A great man named Euripides once stated, "I have found power in the mysteries of thought, exultation in the chanting of the muses; I have been versed in the reasoning of men, but fate is stronger than anything I have known." I disagree with his statement that fate is stronger than anything he knows. In any piece of literature or drama, especially back in the time of Ancient Greece, you can see many different examples of pre-destination. If you look even closer, you will notice that many ideas of pre-destiny are incomplete. Many different aspects of destiny are left shrouded in a cloud of mystery…

First of all, in the move The Matrix, pre-destination plays a big role. The Matrix, which is a life-simulating program developed by robots, allows robots to stimulate the minds of humans in order to create a power source; one which they can fuel themselves with. While they are "plugged in," humans are in semi-control of their virtual life. They can jump, talk, sing, blink, and do everything else that a regular person can do. They are destined to think that the virtual world is the real world. But, if there are some who have been "unplugged" from the life simulation, then isn't destiny a breakable course? These confusing, abstract ideas are all plot holes in the idea of pre-destiny.

In the book The Giver, Jonas's life was very unique. Therefore, he was decided to be The Giver, the one who keeps all the memories of the people, of color, of weather, of war, and everything else that others can't have. The Utopian society fated everyone to specific jobs; jobs that would relate to their childhood. Jonas was supposed to stay in the utopia and pass on the memories to the next person. He didn't do that. Instead, he ran away with his little brother and passed him memories of calmness, fullness, and other things to keep him calm and quiet. Jonas broke the fate of "the council" and ran away. This is another example of how fate is a very unstable, abstract thought and that you must be able to have control, otherwise all current examples of fate will be wiped out.

Cheap University Papers on Fate

Fate is a very vague term, sharing its source with destiny. Both have a specific meaning, but trying to put it as a label on something would prove to be a futile act. One is in control of their life; something is not in control of them. This is why I do not believe in pre-destination, or any other related idea.

Please note that this sample paper on Fate is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In today's society, the relationship between mother and child varies in each case. Some children get along well with their mothers while others never receive the affection they need. In the play Exits Exist by Paul M. Kelly, The image of the mother that is presented is controversial. The characters view their relationship with their mother very differently.

While she is portrayed as a mother who neglected her son Gabriel and blaming him for the father's death, she is also portrayed as a good mother by her daughter Diana, who was just under much stress after the father's death. Her image is sustained throughout the play when Gabriel reveals to the audience how he was treated by his mother. "…I was to blame. It was all my fault…" (Act I, Scene ).

She is portrayed as a terrible mother when Gabriel says that he was blamed in front of family and friends. "…when we were all in the backyard…yelling and screaming at me in front of everybody…" (Act I, Scene ). Gabriel never forgot that the reason he was blamed was because his father was rushing to get to his graduation. Whenever Gabriel speaks of his mother, he speaks with a tone of hate. He remembers how he was treated after his father's death and hates the fact that he was blamed for something that he couldn't control. He was forced to grow up without the affection of a mother, instead he grew up with guilt over his father's death and never received an apology.

Diana, however, speaks with a more sympathetic tone whenever her mother is brought up in conversation. It is revealed to the audience that her mother was very sick and suffered much throughout her sickness and the one thing she wanted to do before she died was to apologize to Gabriel for the blame of his father's death.

Cheap University Papers on Exits Exist

Throughout the play, the mother is never shown and is not there to defend herself from the views of either of her children. The mother being presented through the views of her children and their memory of growing up with her makes the story more dramatic since the reader does not know which of the characters are over exaggerating. It allows the reader to create their own perception of the mother since the story does not lean towards one point of view.

Children have different images of their mother as they grow up due to how they were raised. In Exits Exist, Diana and Gabriel had very different perceptions of their relationship with their mother. While Gabriel describes her as a horrible mother, Diana describes her as a good one. The mother is not present in the play to support either of her children's perceptions of her, which allows the reader to make up their own.

Canada is multicultural country, and every one is equal and everybody has freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication. But in china it is different. As we could see in novel, people of china and students didn't have freedom of what they believe. Also reporters didn't have freedom of press and communication. And Alex says life in Beijing was so complicate and difficult for him because he didn't have freedom of what he wants to do.

First of all the main point of Forbidden City was the demonstration and strike of Chinese students. The government of china didn't give students freedom of belief, opinion and expression. Civilization people of china could not say negative things about what they don't believe. The government didn't let them to what ever they want to say and what they want to believe, so that's why there were a huge demonstration in China in 18.

Secondly in Forbidden City the reports didn't have freedom of the press and media of communication. They were filming stealthy and they hid their cameras. Government of china didn't let them to taking film and making interviews with Chinese people, also the government didn't let Chinese Tv and news stations to show and say everything happened in demonstration. So reporters didn't have freedom of press and media of communication for what they want to show.

Finally in novel, Alex said his life in china was so difficult and sometimes it was boring. Because he didn't have rights which he has in Toronto. For example, he wanted to see his dad and go to hotel for visiting him, but they didn't let him. Also his Chinese friends and his dad didn't let me to go out wherever he wants. He should stay at hotel for while and it made his life more complicate and boring in china. He couldn't film what ever he wants because the government of china didn't let him and reporters to do that and he always hid his camera. So he didn't have freedom in china and that made him nervous and bored.

So in china students didn't have freedom of thoughts, belief, opinion and expression that's why they strike and demonstrate in Tian An Men Square for change in the government. Also Reporters didn't have freedom of press and media of communication and the government didn't let them to take videos or interviews with Chinese students. Alex didn't have freedom too, he always hid his camera and the older people didn't let him to do what ever he wants or wherever he wants to go.

This article reveals that children are very quick at picking up language. Psychologist Susan Goldin-Measow did an experiment. She videotaped eight deaf children, half in the US and half in Taiwan, playing with their mothers. All of the children were profoundly deaf. Instead of learning to lip-read they used a complex series of gestures to express their needs. The sequences were very complex. Golden says that language originated with the children and not with the parents. She discovered identical signing patterns among the deaf American and Taiwanese children. She found more in common between the children of both countries than the children and the parents. The deaf children who live at home together start to notice each other's gestures. This article linked a lot of research together into one article. It touched on matters that were important to the learning of the language. In this article it shows that gestures are the key to learning language. Children if puts in the predicament aren't going to learn by reading lips they are just going to used their hands.

The author did not have a hidden agenda or was at all bias. She obtained her info by doing a lot of experiments and analysis's, that led her to be able to write this article. She also accessed previously recorded knowledge because she has been working on projects and experiments similar to this one for years. All of this went together to back up the point she was trying to get across. The point she was trying to prove was that children are linked in all parts of the world and are very alike. Her article was based and backed up on facts, not her personal views.

The significance of this article is to inform everyone about the significance of hand gestures. Children do learn a lot that way. It was also to show the connection between children in all different parts of the world. Even though they may be far apart, those characteristics that they portray link them together in a way that is very important. This article is out there to prove to people that there are many links to different countries.

The most interesting fact in the article is the fact that children in different countries portray the same characteristics. Looking into the deaf was a great way to see the language develop in that way.

This isn't done yet, researchers are still looking into it and finding more evidence to prove that this subject is really true. Those gestures are in fact the key to learning.

Why The Drinking Age Should Be Lowered

The drinking age should be lowered and young adults should be allowed to consume alcohol in controlled environments such as restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. People today deserve the right to make responsible choices independently and educational programs and role models can help do this. Restricting the consumption of alcohol increases disobedience and theft among society; however, lowering the drinking age can reduce this. This suggestion will not drastically harm society, but rather keep underage drinking supervised and controlled.

The consumption of alcohol is looked upon as an adult activity and young individuals try to act older by imitated adult's actions. Young adults see heavy drinking as a "cool" thing to do. Also under age drinking is seen as rebellious behaviour so more young individuals drink at a young age irresponsibly. By reducing the legal drinking age, drinking will not be seen as a forbidden act and young individuals will learn to drink responsibly.

Individuals will be more aware of the responsibilities of mature drinking as well as the dangers through educational programs at school and at home. The R.I.D.E program is strongly implemented in the Greater Toronto Area and more programs should be enforced to demonstrate responsible drinking. Alcohol is easily available to young individuals whether they take it from home or through older friends or family members. Society should focus on educated young people rather than spending large sums of money catching those who buy or sell alcohol to under age individuals.

Other countries such as Italy, Greece, China, France and Mexico have a low drinking age and there are few related drinking problems. Social pressure is minimal and many individuals learn how to handle alcohol responsibly at home. If the awareness of consuming alcohol in a mature manner is introduced at a young age, teenagers will not take advantage of the beverage, as they get older. Therefore, responsibility should be introduced at a young age.

Lowering the legal drinking age will create more responsible individuals through educational programs and removing the concept of rebelliousness that has proven to work in other countries. People make choices to consume alcohol whether they are the legal age or not, but by making it available to them they will develop responsibility and the will understand the dangers of alcohol.

Essays on Bluetooth Technology6 Looking after your teeth

By the way if, youre wondering where the Bluetooth name originally came from, it named after a Danish Viking and King, Harald Blåtand (translated as Bluetooth in English), who lived in the latter part of the 10th century. Harald Blåtand united and controlled Denmark and Norway (hence the inspiration on the name uniting devices through Bluetooth). He got his name from his very dark hair which was unusual for Vikings, Blåtand means dark complexion. However a more popular, (but less likely reason), was that Old Harald had a inclination towards eating Blueberries , so much so his teeth became stained with the colour, leaving Harald with a rather unique set of molars. And you thought your teeth were bad...

Abstract

This paper discusses what is Bluetooth and where it got its name from. It shows how in 184 Ericsson Corporation began a study to examine radio links as an alternatives to the cables that linked its mobile phones with accessories. Out of this study came the specifications for Bluetooth wireless technology which means one no longer needs to connect, plug into, install, enable or configure the device settings . The paper describes the technology used, the IEEE standards utilized with Bluetooth, regulation of Bluetooth, its develoment and possible risks of utilizing Bluetooth.

From The Paper

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group, or SIG, is a group of companies working together to promote and define the Bluetooth specifications. The Bluetooth SIG was founded by five companies to develop the Bluetooth concept as a viable wireless technology standard. The companies are Ericsson, Intel, IBM, Toshiba and Nokia. Other companies like Microsoft, Lucent, Com and Motorola later joined the Bluetooth SIG. To date, more than 1,500 companies have joined this group and the specifications are developed, published and promoted by the Bluetooth SIG.

1. From what kind of crisis was Athens suffering before Solon was given power?

Factually, there were two main problems in Athens then. The first problem was the large amount of political parties. The second problem was an inequali

ty of people.

The amount of political parties was really big one party for one region. The party of the Men of the Mountains was democratic. The party of the Men o

her could gain significant power.

Another, more important, problem was the inequality between poor and rich people. Actually, all the population was in debt of the rich. People were alm

ost enslaved.

So, the situation was so unstable, that there appeared the need of tyranny the power of one person, who would protect, redistribute, devise and refor

m.

. Why was Solon selected?

Solon was not only well-educated and intelligent person with high moral qualities, but he also was in good relations both with poor and rich.

Solon was really a smart, clever and spiritually developed person. He was a lover of knowledge and educated himself during entire life. He traveled a

lot, acquired friends and gained experience.

In addition, Solon alone had no enemies neither from rich people, nor from poor. He had enough money not to borrow and he didnt share injustice of the

rich. Moreover, he himself took the position of the poor rather than of the rich because he says that many evil men are rich and many good men are poor...

.

. How did Solon reform Athens?

In addition to help in discharging of debts, Solon has provided two very significant, important and appropriate reforms in Athens.

Firstly, he abolished all of the laws of Draco because of their harshness and the severity of punishment.

Secondly, he created a very developed system of Corn-measures, Cavalries, Ox-owners and Men without property. So, he had given more power to t

he demos.

He denied all products, except for oil, to be exported, because of unhealthy import/export practice, which existed then.

So, Solon had done a good job and had written really the best laws they (Athenians) could have received.

4. What factors motivated Solon to encourage foreigners to settle in Athens?

Solon gave the right to become the citizen only to people on exile and to merchants, which wanted to settle down in the city permanently with the entir

e family for trading. The purpose of such a decision was to attract tradesmen to the city, to support economy and, afterwards, enrich the city.

I recently have encountered a friend who has been charged with harassment in the State of New York. Essentially the criminal complaint of harassment carries only a penalty of a violation (not even a misdemeanor) with penalties of a few days in jail or a small fine.

So far, in my research I have found that the NYS Court of Appeals has struck down a former portion of the NYS Harassment statute in a case called People v. Dietze.

In Dietze, it was determined that calling a woman a bitch and her daughter who was mentally deficient a hor, and stating that some day or night out on the street I am going to get you did not constitute harassment and that the statute was unconstitutionally vague.

To me, given the 1st Amendment rights of Free Speech, to tell someone the work FUCK in any context, other than the context that the speaker intends to do physical harm to the victim, cannot be made criminal under any strech of the imagination.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Harassment - Giving the finger to someone in public.

It is well settled law that if a public official under color of State Law deprives a person of their civil rights (in this case the First Amendment right under the US Constitution), the person detained/arrest may have the right to sue the public officials under 4 USC section 18 as well as common law false arrest and unlawful imprisonment.

The problems that exist in the United States of America is that people allow law enforcement agencies to walk all over their civil and other rights without vigorously defending themselves.

In my friends case, the maximum penalty is something like fifteen (15) days in the county jail and/or a fine of about $100! In order to vigorously defend such a matter, he would probably end up spending at least twenty times that amount, and of course, the time that he might face in jail he would loose from work adds to a general feeling by most reasonable people is to try to work out a deal with the prosecutor as opposed to vigorously fighting the charge and following up with litigation either in state or federal courts (or both).

Last but not least is that most people are unable to handle themselves in both a criminal or civil court involving pretrial motions, discovery, suppression hearings, and all of the other things that go with either defending or prosecuting such a case. As a result, people give in.

I am continuing to research this point and will come back to this web site when finished. Dont have any yet!

Like water to chocolate is a tragic love story, filled with the most magical recipes. A Mexican family with old traditions and a mother who strands her youngest daughter, Gertrudis, from falling in love and being happy. Gertrudis, was born, and raised in the kitchen and learnt the secrets of spiritual cooking. She is envied by her three sisters, and her mother, and is in love with a man, Juan, but their love is an impossible love because of the fate that is in store for them.

What I found most entertaining in this novel, turned into a movie, was the actual love story. The story of love and freedom Gertrudis and her secret lover battle to find, and how she uses cooking to express her love and sadness. Laura Esquivel, the writer of this novel, used a lot of fantasy and symbolisms to unravel her story which made it the more interesting.

For example, when Gertrudis and her lover were secretly seeing each other and they knew strongly in their hearts that nothing could separate them, she felt alive. While cooking her favorite magical recipe, ' Rose petal Wings', the love and all the emotions she felt were all poured into her food, so that everybody that tasted her meal could feel the same passion. Every one could feel the aphrodisiac taste.

MESSAGE OF MOVIE

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Analysing the love story of "like Water To Chocolate"

I think the message the writer is trying to portray is that what someone feels emotionally can directly affect the work or the art. The quality of our actions is reflected by how we feel. When things are done with the deepest true feelings of love, this love is manifested in our work and thus become satisfying and fulfilling to us, and more appreciated by others.

HOW IT APPLIES TO THE METAPHISICAL

In this movie, I see the cooking of Gertrudis as an expression that promotes life on a life-less average food. By this I mean, that a meal that could've been as average as any other, is then transformed into the greatest piece of art. She would transcend into her work and manifest the unmanifest. As Maharishi would define an artist, as a expressionist of life, which sees a "living face on a dead stone" (creativity in her food), the artist speaks to the object and wants the object to speak back to him- Hoping for the whisper of the full value of life to be expressed (Just like Gertrudis put all her love into her food and wanted her food to reflect love back to her-This is how she whispered the full value of her love.

Snapping Beans

The poem "Snapping Beans" written by Lisa Parker is a very good poem that talks about to college. For some or most people college life is a good experience, although you have to make some adjustments to different situations. Lisa Parker was around the age of twenty seven when she wrotepoem. The poem starts with the narrator and her grandmother sitting on the porch snapping beans. From reading the poem you find out that she is in college and it is not in the same area where she actually live because of line 5 from school from the North. I was home for the weekend from school from the North implies that she is from the south also sitting on the porch snapping beans. Is what you would think about when you think of the south the country. Not as modernized as the North. With Grandma humming a song What a friend we have in Jesus gives you a sense that she is a religious person and that she appreciates the simple things in life sitting on the porch snapping beans and watching the sunrise not in a hurry. With the gray stare it seems that Grandma could sense that something is different or that the narrator need to talk or has some unknown issue. You get the feeling that maybe the narrator lived with the Grand mother in that case you would wonder where is her mother. And with them sitting on the porch together that they shared a close bond. But now that he has gone to school she is learning new things that she want to share with her grandma but does not think she would understand. Or could not relate to it. Because of this you get the sense that maybe her grand ma was not educated. All she knew was raising kids and taking care of the housework. Just the gentle caring touch makes the author want to break down and tell her grandma how homesick she was at times and how she cried because she was away from home and probably lonely had not meet any friends which is the experience of going away to college. Of course she meet and made friends that did not have the same county background. Telling her grandma that the evening star was a planet might be something that her grand ma would not understand or believed in. Her friends that wore nose rings and wrote poems about sex and alcohol may be considered a bad influence on her and obvious her religious up bringing. Maybe she felt that her grand mo would not accept her friends. But by being a way from home although things a re different maybe she can relate the these people on a more personal level beyond the outer appearance or religion. It seems that she is embarrassed by her accent and because she has not been taught how to respond with a group of people. But despite it all she is happy. She is experience something new and she liked it. The line school is fine shows that she is uncomfortable sharing her feeling with her grand ma .

Sometimes people deserve to be hurt or even killed for their stupidity. The story "To Build Fire" tells of a man just like that. The man was sexist, self-conscious and inexperienced as he traveled off down the Yukon Trail awaiting for him, were not his friends at their camp, but farther down the trail, awaited a long painful death. There is also in real life people who just need to learn something from their stupidity by death or pain. People who pursue extremely dangerous feats ought to be condemned for their foolish and lack of awareness.

In the story "To Build Fire," a man plans to travel down the Yukon Trail and meet his friends at their camp miles away. On his way, he came upon an old man who had warned him to bring a traveling partner along on the trail because the trail had very dangerous weather at that time of year. The man completely ignores the advice and when his legs iced up for his stupidity of falling into a hot spring and turning his legs into a pair of icicles and numbed he was forced to make a fire. He had failed and then became delirious and ran amuck trying to find warmth. Along the way, he had made a dog companion whom he tried to kill for warmth. Then slowly the rest of his body froze and he died. The man in the story shows qualities such as, he was self-reliant because he didn't think he needed a traveling partner which brings up the factor of his foolishness because he had built a fire under a tree and didn't take the old man's advice. He also was sexist because he had called the old man "womenish" for saying bring a traveling partner along. From these traits of the main character(the man), I learned that the man deserved his death for his foolishness and lack of awareness.

Most people do foolish things in life that they deserve to pay for, no matter the cost. People of all kinds every day do something stupid, or foolish, and still manage to weasel themselves out of the problem. People need to do foolish things in life and be condemned for it, to learn how to become a better person. For example, a soldier goes into battle without weaponry, or protection and managed to come out without a scratch on him/her. Another example would be, a man goes to work and stands up to his boss and insults his boss and does not get in the least bit of trouble. In truth, people who do silly, foolish, oblivious things like that deserves to be killed or, at least injured or, fired or, at least warned or, yelled at for their being so idiotic.

People who pursue extremely dangerous feats ought to be condemned for their foolish and lack of awareness. People should learn to do things in life that are brave, but foolish. They should be awarded for their bravery and punished for their foolishness. Learning from mistakes, can give people experience and make them wiser. People deserve punishment for being so ignorant.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas came into form originally as a novel written by

Hunter S. Thompson. The film would come along about 0 years later. Many have stated

that this book is one of many that would be "unfilmable".

Now you shouldn't have to read a book in order to enjoy the movie based on it.

Buy Fear and Loathing term paper

Usually and especially nowadays, people do a lot less reading and more often than not

don't even know the movie they are watching is based on a book. If you can however do

both sometimes it can help to decipher and understand what you're supposed to be

watching for. This may be the case for some with Fear and Loathing due to the fact that

you may spend the entire movie searching for the wrong elements.

Hunter S. Thompson himself picked Johnny Depp to play him in the movie, and

this brings the movie much closer to the book. I don't believe anyone else could have

portrayed the character in such a believable manner. The director of the film, Terry

Gilliam also played a large part in the transformation his prior film 1 Monkeys was also

somewhat of a distinctive picture. I think both of these elements helped make it possible

for an "unfilmable" book to be made into a film.

One major difference between the film and the book is change. Many changes had

to have been made in the film during all stages of production. However Hunter S.

Thompson would never even re-read his own manuscripts before handing them in for

print. Right there much of the substance is lost. One thing that makes his books so unique

is they are written in genuine thought and reaction. The movie cannot portray the vivid

pictures that reading the pages of the book and letting him ramble on can paint in your

mind. One good example of this is the scene in the pogo lounge at the Beverly Heights

Hotel. If I had read the book prior to seeing the movie I would've been extremely

disappointed with how it turned out. At the same time reading it after seeing the movie

also in a way spoiled it because I already had the scene in my head. This made it harder

to push that out of my mind and accept the book for what it was.

I have always been very sure about whether or not I like a book better than the

movie based on it. The answer has always been yes and this should have nothing to do

with the order it is watched or read in. With this work I had watched the movie first many

times before I had the chance to read the book. Something draws me to the movie more,

possibly because it is deeply involved with visuals, and the film has stuck in my head

rather than the book and this is probably due to the fact that I saw the movie first. In some

aspects the movie has advantages where something can be thrown in that wasn't

necessarily spoken about in the book. For example Johnny Depp waving the fly swatter

in "bat country". Or the dead bat on the ground after the car pulls away.

I think the purposes of myths and stories are something for us to believe in. A myth is usually a story carried on throughout centuries from our ancestors. To believe in something helps us to keep our beliefs as if it was a religion. Belief is influential to many people and that is what keeps people today something to live for, like people who go to mass everyday or someone who prays everyday for the well being of themselves and everyone. What if there wasn't religion? Well I think if we didn't have religion most people would be suicidal and break a lot of laws. Religion is almost like another type of government that controls the mind. It gives the person certain limits and if one does good, he or she goes to heaven. Religion usually set rules for people to follow to control themselves.

In most traditions for Catholics like me, the newborn child is usually baptized. Baptism plays as a role to keep the person holy and be protected by the Holy Spirit and by our God. As the child grows up, he or she has to choose the route to do what a catholic will do. Being baptized helps people being possessed by a demon or some kind of evil. It keeps good within them. People still get baptized even if they are old or young, baptism usually take place months after when a child is born.

In marriage, I would have to be Baptized, pass courses of Holy Communion; eating of the bread and also Confirmation; a deeper devotion to God. Also when the day comes, Confession is required for he or she has to confess what they have done wrong and be guilty of. This would be required in marriage in a church as a Catholic. Being a Catholic isn't that easy, it is very strict. Going to mass every Sunday is usually hard for people and all it takes is an hour of your day. A lot of people don't go to mass but still believe in God. Although it is a sin, it can also be forgiven by God, only unless you are guilty of it and have your mind set to change.

Most of the myths that are told are about other cultures way of life. There is nothing wrong with each other religions. Each religion is set to a certain group to praise in what they believe in. It helps people to show their inner self. Myths can serve a variety of purposes. They are used to teach lessons about life and dealing with problems of what is right or wrong. They can also be used as ways of preserving a culture's history by having the stories told one generation to the next.

These stories generally have one thing in common, a God or something to worship over. Rituals, Marriage, Death, and Births are all steps of life and religion. It is what keeps society going. Religion play as a big role in people's life, but is it that important? Do people really believe there is a God because others do? The answers are surrounded by their faith. No one knows but themselves, it is what they believe in. Not the way people tell them to believe it.
