----ORANGEY, A 50S FELINE SUPERSTAR - WITH AN ATTITUDE

One of the most talented cats ever to be captured on

celluloid was a short-haired, fourteen pound male ginger

tabby named Orangey. In 151 he starred in a film entitled

Order Custom Essay on ----ORANGEY, A 50'S FELINE SUPERSTAR - WITH AN ATTITUDE:

Rhubarb, as well as many other films. His acting career

lasted from the early 150s through 16, and during that

time, he won more awards than any other cat in Tinseltown

Orangey was beautiful, photogenic and such a handsome hunk,

perfect for the big screen. But it seems that this pretty

boy with all his glamour and movie-star qualities was not

much fun on the set.

Orangey was short-tempered, hard to work with, and down

right nasty! Nobody liked him, not even his trainer,

Frank Inn. One movie executive found his antics so

aggravating that he called him The Worlds Meanest Cat.

During one film shoot, guard dogs were placed at the doors

of the movie studio to keep him from running away.

Despite his reputation as a repugnant puss, this cat named

Orangey cat could certainly act! He was considered by many

to be one of the best animal actors in the world. He is the only cat to have won the

Patsy Award twice, an honor given for the best performance

by an animal in a movie.

Orangey won the award for his title role in Rhubarb,

a movie about a cat who inherits a fortune, and buys the

Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team. Based on a novel of the

same title written by H. Allen Smith, the film included

human super stars such as Ray Milland, Jan Sterling,

Leonard Nimoy and Gene Lockhart.

To keep him from bolting from the set during the shooting

of his films, the crew kept Orangey on a leash. Mostly, the

leash was to keep him from harassing and annoying everyone

around him, especially his four-legged stand-ins.

Orangey went on to win another Patsy Award for his most

outstanding performance as Cat in the film Breakfast at

Tiffanys starring Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, Buddy

Ebsen, Mickey Rooney, and Patricia Neal.

The film is based on a novella by Truman Capote. Cat is

Hollys (Hepburns) beloved pet, whom she calls a poor

slob without a name.

Orangey has some pretty big scenes in the film. He had

to jump on Hepburns back as she lay in bed, leap off

Peppards shoulders onto a shelf, and then look quite

pathetic as he gets drenched in a downpour. If you

remember, this scene, at the end of the movie, shows Holly

throwing Cat out into the streets of New York City to

prove that she is a free spirit, not attached to anyone

or anything.

But, minutes later, she has a change of heart and regrets

what she has just done to Cat. She runs

through the streets and alleys in the rain and happily finds

poor, drenched, and almost abandoned, Cat.

Orangeys other major film appearances include a role in

Gigot, starring Jackie Gleason. He also regularly

appeared on TV with Eve Arden and Gale Gordon in the

series Our Miss Brooks.

Movie critics and animal trainers have agreed that Orangey

has stolen the show from his famous human costars in many

of his films. Irascible or not, this cat was a fabulously

talented legendary feline super-star! Does he have his

paw prints preserved in cement or have a star on Hollywoods

walk of fame, I wonder?

Good Morning Ladies and Gentleman

Today we are going to discover a most shocking fact. A fact that been hidden for decades. A secret that is claiming lives of innocent women.

Most people sitting here believe that the rights of women have improved over the last few decades. But unfortunately nothing has really changed for women in the Middle East. In fact the opposite has occurred where Women in Middle East suffer on going violations against their fundamental Human Rights and loss of their dignity is heartbreaking.

First of all, Women in the Middle East are treated as second-class citizens if they are lucky. They have no right to vote, no right to acceptable standard of living, and no right to equal treatment before the law.

Order custom research paper on Women Rights

Secondly, Women in many Middle Eastern countries are proclaimed as properties or possessions that belonged to a male. Women belong to their father as children, and then to their husbands as adults, and then to her sons in their old age. These women have been denied the right to govern their own lives and destinies. Every aspect of their life is arranged for them. From the day they are borne till the day they die. Women in the Middle East have extremely difficult life; they have arranged marriages, have very limited access to education and are brutally worked for twice as many hours as men for one-tenth of the income.

By now you are outraged or at least you're emotionally involved. But I didn't think we have even scratched the surface. There are the crimes that are committed against women every day in the Middle East. These crimes included abuse, slavery, false imprisonment, murder and rape. And that's not even all; Women in Saudi Arabia have been beaten to death because they have failed to give birth to a son." My husband married me after he had beaten his first wife to death for not giving birth to a son." said Salmi (Saudi Arabia).

Statistics researched by Amnesty International show 6% of women murdered in Saudi Arabia by the hands of male family members.6%. In Yemen a staggering 5% of female deaths are due to suicide. In order to understand the great hardship women are going through in the Middle East, you must put you're self in their place to just understand the feeling of being treated like an outsider by your own family and the people you love the most.

By now you must be wondering what the police or government are doing to stop the progress of unacceptable treatment that women are subjected to?

Well, unfortunately the police have no authority to stop violence committed against women or even women being killed by the hands of males. This level of state authorized lack of sympathy is typified by the troubles of anonymous Saudi Arabian women. She says

" My husband beat me for no reason, he just felt like it. When I told the police, they told me to go back to my husband and stop making up stories."

In Yemen women plead with police to stop their husbands from killing them. Unfortunately police have no power to stop husbands killing their wives, but they have permission to hang women for defending her self against her often violent, aggressive and brutal husband.

Finally, Women in the Middle East have been denied their Fundamental human rights and have been robbed of their dignity. This veil of oppression can only be removed by education of both the international community and the Middle Eastern cultures about the equality of all people.

Us women we should protest against the terrible treatment that women in the Middle East are receiving!

After all we are all human.

"Macbeth"

In the play "Macbeth", blood is the most recurrent image in the play. Blood reoccurs many times showing death, guilt and foreshadowing what is to happen to Macbeth.

"Where's that knocking? What's happened to me, that every noise scares me? Whose hands are these? They're plucking my eyes out! Is there enough water in the oceans to wash my hands of this blood? No! More likely my hands will stain the vast green seas boodred." -Macbeth (to Lady Macbeth)

All of the blood is getting to Macbeth because he killed Duncan. Now he is feeling guilty for what he has done. He doesn't completely realize what he has done and that the cannot change the fact that he killed Duncan. Macbeth's hands are all bloody and stained and he is delirious.

"To be thus-a king-is nothing. I must be safely thus. I fear Banquo deeply. In his regal nature, there's a ruling element to be feared. He's daring; and with that fearless quality of mind, he has a wisdom, which guides his courage to act in a safety. I fear no one but him. While he's around, I feel constrained it's said Mark Antony felt the same way about Caesar. Banquo scolded the Sisters when they first told me I'd be king, and ordered them to speak to him. Then, like prophets, they hailed him as the father of a line of kings. On my head they placed a sterile crown and put a barren scepter in my hand-to be wrenched from me by a stranger, instead of handed to a son of Banquo's offspring. For them, I've murdered the gracious Duncan. Turned my peace sour merely for them. And surrendered my immortal soul to the devil-to make them kings! The sons of Banquo, kings! Rather than that, I challenge fate to the death!"- Macbeth

In this paragraph, Macbeth is talking about how Banquo is a threat to him so he must get rid of him. He also speaks of how he killed Duncan for him. When Macbeth talks about killing Duncan, he speaks as if killing Duncan for Banquo was trying to help him, but now he wants to kill Banquo to help himself. The line where he speaks of how Mark Antony felt the same way about Caesar portrays blood in a way because of the fact that Macbeth relates to them.

"My name's Macbeth."

-Macbeth

"No-not even if the name you use is hotter than any known in hell."

-Young Siward

" No, nor more frightening!"

- Macbeth

"You're lying, you odious tyrant! I'll prove it's a lie with my sword!"

-Young Siward

This is the scene when Young Siward and Macbeth are arguing because Young Siward doesn't like Macbeth and so he tells him but Macbeth doesn't react to what he is telling him. While already in the anger and the guilty along with greed, Macbeth doesn't like what he is hearing so he decides to do away with Young Siward as well.

"Of all men, I've avoided you! Get back! There's too much blood of yours on my soul already!" Macbeth

Macbeth is speaking to Macduff and what he means is that every time him and Macduff are around each other, Macbeth does something wrong or something bad happens. "I won't surrender, to kiss the ground beneath young Malcome's feet and to be taunted by the curses of the rabble. Even if Birnam Wood has come to Dunsinane, and you are my opponent-not born of woman- I'll keep fighting to the end. I throw my warlike shield before my body. Fight on, Macduff, and damned be the one who first cries, "Stop, enough!" Macbeth

In this quote, Macbeth and Macduff battle on like the enemies they have become. Macbeth has reached his final step of anger and wants to get rid of the next most powerful one who could end it all for him. But, Macbeth gets killed by Macduff in their sword fight and Macduff decapitates him. Malcome becomes the new king.

If Immigrants want to stay here, They must adapt to us!

I do not hold anything against immigrants who are seeking a better life by coming to America. Descendents of immigrants make up much of our population today. Immigrants that come to our country need to understand a few things things. The idea of America being a multicultural community has only taken away from our national identity. We have our own culture, our own language and our own lifestyle just like any other country.

Many immigrants come to america to succeed but have a low education and don't know where to start. This greatly increases the poverty level. The immigrant welfare level is 4% greater than the native welfare level. People like you and me pay for immigrants with taxes. This puts a Drain on economy because it costs anywhere from 67 87 billion dollars a year. PRUCOL, Permanently Residing Under The Color Of Law allows both leagal and illegal immigrants to stay in America for us to pay for.

There are some things that immigrants don't understand when they come to america. First off, we speak ENGLISH! Not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian and they must learn the language if they want to become a part of our society. "IN GOD WE TRUST" is our national motto because this nation was founded by Christian men and women . I along with many other people, don't want to have to worry about whether we are offending another culture or individual because we have patriotism for our country. I think it is certainly appropriate to display this message in our pledge and on the walls of our office buildings and schools. God is a part of our culture and our culture is not going to change.

Order custom research paper on US immigration

Since a lot of Immigrants come to this country unstable, they are turned down from jobs. This forces them to commit crimes for money because they have nothing else to do. Roughly 54% of jail inmates are criminal illegal Aliens. Over the past 5 years 7,000 were arrested for drugs alone. In 1, one prison claimed to be holding over 68,000 criminal illegal immigrants. Because there is an insufficient amount of space in our jails Many illegal aliens were released back into society to harm again. According to the Illinois governors office, Our state Alone spends over 40 million dollars on jailing criminal immigrants.

Many jobs for hard working Americans are taken because immigrants are such cheap labor. A lot of immigrants are low skilled, in 000 6% of immigrants had no occupation or profession. The average adult had only a th grade education and more than 1/ of immigrants over the age of 5 have no high school education whatsoever. Illegal immigrants displace about 70,000 Americans a year. Employers would rather hire a bunch of cheap immigrant workers than legal Americans because it saves them so much money.

Our government has to do its job and keep illegal immigrants out of our country. There are currently 6,00 agents guarding the southern border and I think they need to raise that number to somewhere around 10,000 agents. Our government needs to start doing a better job of tracking the immigrants that say they are coming in on vacation as well because much of the time they just stay in the country and never leave. Immigrants do little to nothing for our country so we need to slow down the progress of legal immigration so America doesn't become over crowded.

This is our America. When that small group immigrants are done complaining about our language, our flag, our national motto and our life habits, they should try finding a country that satifies them because its not here. It doesn't matter how they used to do things because if they don't like it, They have the right to leave.

Keg Party

One of the most risky things I ever did was throw was a keg party while my parents where out of town for a church retreat for the weekend. My dad is the easy going going one while my mom is more of the boss. My dad was the one who would bail me out when ever I get into trouble in school, while my mom is more like the enforcer. Both of them are active in church and go to church every week. . All of my neighbors are hard core conservative Republicans. That's why it's a better challenge to have the party.

The idea of the party started when my parents told me that they were going to a church retreat for the weekend. As soon as I found out, I began plotting the party by telling all my friends from school. The way I got to stay home was that I told my parents that I was going to be staying at my friend Rick's house for the weekend, but the night before they left my friend Liz whose 1 placed an order for kegs. I invited over 50 people to the party. I was a sophomore in high school. I was active on the wrestling team and I invited most of the wrestling team and their girls.

So it was Friday and it was the big day. My parents left around 1 or so in the afternoon. The time of the party was around . I had some of my friends working the door to collect the cover charge of $10. This was to cover the cost of the alcohol the kegs and also the hard liquor that I had. People were starting to come in slowly, but by the time it was 1000, there must have been 40 people. Already, 1 keg was gone. By 1100 we had used up the nd keg and there were around 70 people. People were doing beer bongs, drinking games, hooking up, and doing some drugs. While other people were in the upper part of my house making out, and watching movies, I had trance and go-go music playing. They were starting to be noise and people where chilling in the street. A couple of people ordered pizza and had it delivered to my house and also some Chinese food, but when they came no one paid for it. The delivering person got really mad, and I had to pay for it. I wasn't in a good mood then but that's a part of life. They were people started to pass out in my back yard and all over house then at 110 I did another head count and there were 1 people and the rd keg was almost gone. I told one of my boys to bring out the back up of hard liquor out. So me and 0 people had a shot contest. We played the quarter game. I was pretty drunk and I was pretty happy that I could pull something off like this. Around 10 or so the cops showed up and everyone ran all over the place and tried not to get caught. I had people passed out in the back yard, in the hall, out in the tub, and 4 were passed out in the hot tub. I found out that my neighbor called. He really didn't like me and also he didn't like kids that much.

Cheap Custom Essays on Risk

We were all having fun till someone screamed out, "the cops are coming"! The cops called my parents at where they were staying and told them what happen and the drove back the next morning. I didn't go to jail or anything else; my parents told the cops that they would handle it. My dad wasn't that mad at me as much as my mom was. My mom sets all the rules and told me that people could have broken and stole things and was wondering what I was thinking. My dad didn't say much while my mom was talking to me. After my mom had finished talking to me she told me that my punishment was I was grounded for a month and she took the car keys away from for a month to. After my mom had finished talking to me, my dad told me that he had a party too when he was my age and knew what I was going through and if he was mad the punishment would be easier on me. It took me a long time to get my parents trust again after the stunt I pulled.

Last week's class was very interesting, even though being a Psych major, I have hatched the topic of stereotypes to death. It was interesting to see other people's views and reactions when confronted with stereotypes. I think that every situation can be interpreted differently. It's hard to see that not everyone thinks the way you think. Sometimes people have trouble understanding why something they think is trivial is offensive to someone else. I noticed this when we were discussing the baseball team names being offensive such as the Cleveland Indians. At first I thought that it was not a big deal because it was just a sports team name. It was not intended to be offensive, threatening or demeaning. It's just so much time as past, that the names have stayed out of tradition. It does stereotype Native Americans as Indians with brown skin, a big nose, and a headdress. I do not personally look at the symbol and think all Native Americans must look this way. When asked to describe a typical Native American, that symbol for the Cleveland Indians does not pop into my head. I'm not the hugest sports fan either, so I never have really thought about. I assume that a person of average of intelligence knows better than to think that all Native Americans must resemble the Cleveland Indians symbol. Yet, I'm probably wrong because I should never assume.

Buy today was a good day term paper

I also think that political correctness America has become somewhat of a joke. It seems that everyone seems to be crying about something, everyone has been offended somehow. People hold their tongues a lot more now, so they don't get sued. It does not mean they still don't think the same thoughts. It's hard to change people and it seems that for the most part, people don't want to bother taking the effort to change.

The only way I could relate to was when Jessica made the analogy of the baseball team having a Jewish icon and fans screaming, "Malzoltov! Malzoltov!" it made more sense to me because I am also Jewish and could see how then having a stereotype for a mascot could be offensive. Even though people do not know it, they are mocking another culture. It seems trivial but I think that the little things do have an impact on us. Also when the guest speaker made the comparison to Lehigh students being, "preppy white boys." It changed my perspective and I understand why little things like a baseball team logo could offend people.

When I look at the issue from a small perspective and how in a world with so much diversity, so many things can offend someone. Stereotypes are all around us and I know that we have to have them. I know it's impossible not to have them. I've learned that I can't let negative stereotypes bother me. I hear Jewish jokes all the time, I even laugh at them, because I know they're not true. On a personal level I know it doesn't matter what others think of me, it only matter what I think of myself.

On a more worldly level, as for history, stereotypes are all that is going to be remembered. A hundred years from now, kids are going to read about the 1st century in a history book or watch a documentary. Our whole existence will be crammed in one 0-page chapter or a -hour movie. Our stereotypes will become history, and people will believe it as the truth, just as we believe our history books as the truth. Do we really know what the Roman and Greek life was like? Did they really walk around in togas with leaves in their hair? We weren't there, all we know is what anthropologists and old literature tell us. The only truth we know is that there is no truth. Therefore, I can't say stereotypes don't matter.
