My Trip to the City That Never Sleeps

Have you ever been to the Metropolitan museum of art? Do you like art? Since my family enjoys art so much we decided to take a trip to the Metropolitan museum of art. We were also interested in the Jackie Onassis exhibit that was being shown there. We were interested in this exhibit because both of my parents grew up in the period when she was first lady. Also on our trip to the city we saw a wide variety of people who shared the same interests as my family and I. Do you know anything about Jackie Onassis?

To begin with, as we stood in front of the museum we saw big golden doors that seemed to tower over us. These doors were like an entrance to another world that was indescribable. When opening the doors a person would have to use all of their strength because of their weight. Once inside we rushed to the Jackie O' exhibit there we stood for 45 minutes just waiting to get in to the exhibit. The anticipation of what lied in front of us was so great that I couldn't stand still and kept asking questions about her and her life as first lady. After the time was up we entered the presentation of her things we stood there in awe looking at her array of clothes in many different colors and sizes. This was a woman who could wear anything and make it look good. Her clothes were as bright as the sun.

The first hall we came to was one with paintings of Claud Monet, one of the great masters of art. When looking at his paintings your eyes become engulfed in color and dots. If you stare at the paintings closely you can see that he used short, rapid brush strokes as if to put paint on ones finger and pressed it multiple times against the canvas. By looking at his paintings you can tell that he was a man who enjoyed the beauty of life and the world around him.

As we approached the top of a wide, winding staircase we embarked on the blue period, the works of Piscaso. His style was that of a more modern era, one that displayed his works in shapes, figures and dark colors. These dark colors were an extension of his feelings of depression and out of mind state. He is one of my favorite artists because he was not afraid to be different, set his own trends, and painted modern, advanced for his time.

In conclusion, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a great place to learn about many forms of art, its style, its artists, and the issues and trends surrounding each era. When looking at art, one looks throughout the window of the past throughout the works of these most famous artists. You can also see how their ways of life were totally different from the way we see life today. When viewing the works of the masters, you feel as sense of calmness, making you see your true self, in a most relaxing way. All in all, The Met was an outstanding place to visit.
